Webometrics Ranking 2017: Hanoi National University of Education made it into the top 100 South East Asian universities.

According to Webometrics rankings in January 2017 (university website review), Vietnam has 8 universities among Southeast Asia Top 100.

 

 

So với kỳ xếp hạng tháng 7/2016, ĐH Quốc gia Hà Nội, ĐH Cần Thơ, ĐH Bách khoa TPHCM, ĐH Mỏ Địa chất bị tụt hạng ở khu vực và thế giới, trong khi ĐH Bách khoa Hà Nội, Học viện Nông nghiệp Việt Nam, ĐH Sư phạm Hà Nội, ĐH Quốc gia TPHCM tăng hạng.

Compared with the rankings in July 2016, Hanoi National University, Can Tho University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Geology and Mining University were downgraded in the region and the world, while Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam University, Hanoi National University of Education, Vietnam National University claimed higher positions.

Webometrics is the largest university ranking in the world, published twice a year (January and July). In July, 2017, Webometrics published the ranking result for universities around the world basing on the four criteria of educational institutions’ website:

  1. Presence (5%) - the size of the website or the number of sub-sites corresponding to the key website of each university; 
  2. Impact (50%) - the connective level with external educational institutions;
  3. Transparency / Openness (10%) - the number of citations of scientific works published on Google Scholar source;
  4. Excellence / Scholar (35%) the number of articles published in the Scimago source from 2011-2015.

According to the Webometrics in January 2017, the top 10 universities in Vietnam are:

1. Vietnam National University Hanoi (1580th place in the world)

2. Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1764th place in the world)

3. Hanoi Agricultural University (2070th place in the world)

4. Can Tho University (2261th place in the world)

5. Hanoi National University of Education (2588th place in the world)

6. Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (2758th place in the world)

7. Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (3159th place in the world)

8. Thai Nguyen University (3267th place in the world)

9. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (3550th place in the world)

10. HCMC University of Agriculture and Forestry (3576th place in the world)

Vietnam National University Hanoi (1580th place in the world) dropped 233 levels compared to 1347 positions in the rankings in July 2016, reaching the 32nd position in the Southeast Asia region (-3 levels). However, Vietnam National University Hanoi still holds the 1st place in the rankings of Webometrics in Vietnamese universities.

Compared to the rankings in July 2016:

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (1764th place in the world) went up 74 positions, ranking 41st in Southeast Asia (+8 levels).

Hanoi Agricultural University (2070th place in the world) increased 444 levels, ranked 48th in Southeast Asia (+21 levels).

          Can Tho University (2261th place in the world) has dropped 334 places, ranking 58th in Southeast Asia (-5 levels).

          Hanoi National University of Education (2588th place in the world) increased 375 levels, ranking 68th in Southeast Asia (+22 levels).

Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City (2758th place in the world) has risen 54 places, ranking at 71 in Southeast Asia (+16 levels).

          Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (3159th place in the world) dropped 371 places, standing at 89 in Southeast Asia (-6 levels).

          Thai Nguyen University (3267th place in the world) increased 353 levels, ranking 94th in Southeast Asia.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (3550th place in the world) has fallen 503 levels, ranking at 104 in Southeast Asia.

          HCMC University of Agriculture and Forestry (3576th place in the world) ranks 106th in Southeast Asia. Note: In the rankings in July 2016, this school did not make the top 10 in Vietnam.
