Opening the session, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, on behalf of HMU leadership, welcomed the President and the leaders of departments and faculties from HNUE. In the context of the nation's efforts to implement key Politburo resolutions to create breakthroughs for national development – including Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; Resolution 71-NQ/TW on education and training; and Resolution 72-NQ/TW on protecting and improving public health – the pioneering role of universities, especially leading institutions, is crucial. Furthermore, cooperation between universities must be strengthened to leverage the collective strength of educational institutions in training high-quality human resources. With a rich tradition of over 120 years, HMU has constantly strived to enhance the quality of training and research. The President of HMU emphasized a vision of a strategic partnership with HNUE to share resources in student selection and quality improvement. Rather than a simple service-based approach, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu aims for close coordination to professionalize medical faculty in the digital era.

Alongside training, admissions were a key highlight of the discussion. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Tung, Vice President of HMU, provided deep analysis on the necessity of a specialized competency assessment exam for the health sciences to select high-caliber candidates for highly competitive majors such as Medicine or Odonto-Stomatology. He highly appreciated the structure of the SPT, particularly the essay portion accounting for 30% of the total score, which effectively evaluates the logical thinking and presentation skills essential for future doctors. Additionally, training programs meeting current social demands, such as Social Work and Psychology – which both universities offer – require shared cooperation to continuously improve quality.

Speaking at the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, President of Hanoi National University of Education, thanked the HMU leadership for the warm welcome. He noted that the meeting is significant in enhancing mutual understanding between two leading universities dedicated to training "the two masters": the teacher and the doctor. He suggested that beyond professional teaching and research, the two schools could support each other in capacity-building programs for teaching methodology, educational measurement, and assessment – especially the application of IT, AI, and simulations in digital transformation. Regarding admissions, the HNUE SPT has evolved from an internal tool to a high-differentiation exam used by many universities nationwide. In 2026, the SPT will be held in two rounds across eight provinces and cities. The leaders of both universities agreed to conduct in-depth research on coordinating the use of SPT results for HMU’s admissions. Both sides hold high expectations that this connection will help HMU select elite candidates with genuine aptitude and logical thinking.

The start of this cooperation is not merely technical but a meaningful bond between the two most noble professions in society – Teachers and Physicians. Representatives of both universities emphasized that the ultimate goal of this comprehensive strategic relationship is to improve the quality of national human resources, contributing to the sustainable development of the country's healthcare and education systems.
