In this ranking cycle, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) organization has ranked 857 higher education institutions in Asia, including 149 institutions being ranked for the first time.
The ranking results are based on the analysis of feedback from over 2.1 million votes by academics and 617,000 votes by employers worldwide. Additionally, QS analyzed over 141.6 million citations (from 2017 t0 2022) from 17.6 million scientific publications (from 2017 to 2021).
This year, Vietnam has 15 universities listed in this ranking, including Vietnam National University, Duy Tan University, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Hue University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, HCMC University of Science and Technology, Danang University, Can Tho University, University of Transport and Communications, Van Lang University, HCMC University of Industry, and Hanoi National University of Education.
Last year, Vietnam had 11 universities listed in this ranking.
Regarding the criteria and weighting in the QS Asian University Rankings (AUR) 2024, the ranking methodology remains unchanged, evaluating higher education institutions based on 11 indicators. Among them, the highest weightage is given to the opinions of academics and employers, accounting for 30% and 20% respectively. The remaining indicators include faculty-to-student ratio (10%), proportion of faculty with a doctoral degree (5%), research papers per faculty (5%), citations per paper (10%), international research network (10%), international faculty ratio (2.5%), and international student ratio (2.5%).
Leading the rankings are the following institutions: Beijing University (China) holds the top position, maintaining its position from 2023. The University of Hong Kong (China) ranks second, while the National University of Singapore ranks third. The fourth position is shared by Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Tsinghua University (China).
