Hanoi National University of Education have worked with the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom)

On June 9, 2025, Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) had the honor of working with a delegation from the International Education Organization – University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). The working session was held to promote cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of teacher training, teaching material development, student exchange, and capacity building for lecturers in accordance with international standards.

Representing the University of Cambridge were Ms. Kanjna Paranthaman – Regional Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific; Mr. Yusuf Seto Pangasa Wibowo – Business Development Director for Learning Resources; Mr. Melvyn Lim – Senior Regional Manager for Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos; along with Ms. Dang Thuy Mai, Ms. Dang Phuong Dung and Ms. Tran Hoang Mai – Country Managers in Vietnam.

On behalf of HNUE, attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hien –Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Dinh Minh Hang – Head of the President’s Office; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Cuong – Director of the University of Education Publishing House; Prof. Dr. Dang Ngoc Quang – Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry; Dr. Nguyen Thuy Chung – Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education; Dr. Luu Thi Kim Nhung – Director of the Center for Education Development and Digital Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Hau – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Biology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Nhu Thang – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hop – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics; Dr. Dao Thi Bich Nguyen – Vice Dean of the Faculty of English; and Dr. Thai Thi Cam Trang – Vice Principal of the HNUE Elite Middle School.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged ideas on potential collaboration, such as organizing short-term training courses for third- and fourth-year pedagogy students (Cambridge short-term ITT), implementing the Professional Development Qualifications (PDQ) program, recognizing international qualifications such as AS/A Levels, and facilitating students from the Cambridge program to apply for admission to HNUE. In addition, the two parties also discussed the possibility of implementing the Cambridge curriculum at schools under HNUE, as well as expanding internship and teaching assistantship opportunities for HNUE students at educational institutions within the Cambridge system.

Notably, both sides expressed their desire to jointly implement the “English as a Second Language” (ESL) project initiated by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. Furthermore, they explored the potential for cooperation between University of Education Publishing House and the University of Cambridge in developing, evaluating, and publishing international teaching materials.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two institutions agreed to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and establish task-specific working groups to implement the contents discussed. This working session marks an important milestone in HNUE’s strategy to strengthen international cooperation, contributing to the enhancement of the university’s reputation and training quality in the context of global educational integration.
