Hanoi National University of Education welcomes Delegation from Chinese Universities and Beijing International Education Exchange Center

On the afternoon of October 23, 2025, Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) solemnly held a reception for a delegation from Chinese universities and representatives of the Beijing International Education Exchange Center. The event aimed to strengthen international cooperative relations in education, training, and research between HNUE and leading Chinese higher education institutions.

Attending the working session, the Chinese delegation included Ms. Qiu Yulu - Deputy Director of the Beijing International Education Exchange Center, Ms. Li Nan - Project Department Head, along with representatives from Peking University, Beijing Normal University, China Agricultural University, Beijing Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Minzu University of China, Communication University of China, and other prestigious educational institutions in Beijing, China.

Representing Hanoi National University of Education at the reception were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hien - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of University’s Board; Dr. Dinh Minh Hang, Head of the President's Office; Dr. Tran Ba Trinh – Head of Office of Undergraduate Training; Dr. Ngo Thi Khanh Chi – Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture; and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai - Deputy Director of Institute for Education and International Training.

Opening the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hien - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of University’s Board, delivered a welcome speech to the delegation from Chinese universities visiting and working at HNUE. In his speech, he emphasized that HNUE not only trains in pedagogy but has also expanded into many other fields, with programs spanning early childhood education, general education, natural sciences, social sciences, to non-pedagogical majors such as Vietnamese Studies, Tourism – Travel Services, Vietnamese Language and Culture, Philosophy, etc., meeting the increasingly diverse needs of society.

Besides training, HNUE also focuses on basic and applied research in natural sciences, social sciences, and technology transfer. He also introduced the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, a unit increasingly affirming its position in teaching, research, and academic exchange with Chinese universities. Furthermore, the system of pedagogical practice schools, gifted schools, and primary schools under HNUE also plays an important role in linking the University's training, practice, and research activities.

Representing the Chinese side, Ms. Qiu Yulu - Deputy Director of the Beijing International Education Exchange Center, expressed her delight in visiting HNUE and conveyed thanks for the warm welcome from the University. In her speech, she stated that the working delegation included representatives from many leading universities in Beijing such as Beijing Jiaotong University, North China Electric Power University, Minzu University of China, Beijing Normal University, Communication University of China, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Capital Medical University, etc., each with their own strengths in training and research.

Ms. Qiu Yulu also shared an overview of the education system of Beijing city – which currently has 92 universities, 649 middle schools, and 984 primary schools. Beijing is gradually perfecting its educational institutions towards modernization and internationalization, welcoming a large number of international students, with 42 universities currently implementing programs taught entirely in English. Since 2006, Beijing has operated a scholarship fund for international students, and according to the latest statistics, 72% of Vietnamese students studying in Beijing have received scholarships. She expressed hope that through this meeting, the parties would have the opportunity to exchange, share information, and expand cooperation possibilities between HNUE and universities in Beijing specifically, as well as between Vietnam and China in general, particularly in education and teacher training.

Annually, HNUE has approximately 5,000 undergraduate students, of which over 1,000 choose to study Chinese. This is one of the most popular foreign languages at the university, and students must obtain an HSK certificate as a graduation requirement. The university is also an official HSK examination organizer, thereby strengthening the connection between HNUE and Chinese universities in language training.

From 2005 to the present, HNUE has continuously received Chinese students for study, maintaining effective cooperative relations with many prestigious universities such as Vietnam University, Guangxi University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, and Guilin University. Annually, HNUE trains an average of 70–100 Chinese students through joint programs with partner universities. Courses for international students include Advanced Vietnamese, Vietnamese Linguistics, Vietnamese Listening-Speaking Skills, Translation, and Vietnamese Tourism, designed flexibly to meet learners' study goals and cultural integration needs.

The working session concluded, marking a significant step in the educational cooperation relationship between Hanoi National University of Education and Chinese universities, looking towards a connected and sustainable future.
