Attending the competition was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Vice President of HNUE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Trao - Vice President of HNUE, Dr. Dinh Minh Hang - Head of the President’s Office, Dr. Nguyen Nhat Tan - Head of Politics and Students Affairs Office, Dr. Tran Ba Trinh – Office of Academic Affairs, Dr. Bui Thi Ha Giang - Secretary of the University Youth Union along with representatives of departments, leaders and the presence of more than 1,000 fans from faculties and units throughout the University. The program is also honored to receive the attention of the companion unit, the Center for Development of Education and Digital Technology - Hanoi National University of Education.
With the desire to promote English learning and expand useful and practical playgrounds for students throughout the University. Hanoi National University of Education organized the HNUE English Challenge competition for students of faculties, students of High school for Gifted students, and Nguyen Tat Thanh Lower and Upper Secondary School. Each department and affiliated high school establishes 1 team (10 members) to participate in the competition. The competition is also a place for students to shine their talents and strengthen connections with other students at school.
The competition includes 2 rounds: a preliminary round and a final round.
In the preliminary round, each faculty selects and forms a team to create a video and essay writing tasks based on 3 topics:
- HNUE students with innovation and creativity
- HNUE students with challenges of modern technologies
- HNUE students with cultural heritages
In the final competition, the teams went through the following sections: knowledge and talent. After these two rounds, the 5 teams with the highest scores will enter the debate competition.
In the knowledge round, the teams had a chance to demonstrate their knowledge surrounding social knowledge and academic knowledge on 4 topics: Hanoi National University of Education; Education; Culture and Society; English skills. In this round, the teams had a very close practice chasing scores.
In the talent round, the teams showed extremely attractive, unique, and intellectual performances with different delivery methods such as acting, singing, dancing... Creative performances from the competing teams made the judges and spectators extremely excited.
After the talent round, the 5 best teams continued to advance to the debate round, which are teams from the faculties of Primary Education, Philology, English, Physics, and High School for Gifted students. Teams nominate a representative to draw a rhetorical topic and present it for 3 minutes. The teams presented concise, meaningful speeches on 3 topics: HNUE students with innovation, HNUE students with the challenges of modern technology, and HNUE students with cultural heritages.
In the end, teams were awarded based on the results of 3 parts, with the results as follows:
First Prize: Faculty of English
Second Prize: Faculty of Primary Education and High School for Gifted Students - HNUE
Third Prize: Faculty of Philology and Faculty of Physics
Consolation Prize: Faculty of Information & Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of French, and Faculty of Mathematics & Information Technology.
In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded the following additional prizes:
Best Clip Award: Faculty of English
Best Essay Award: Faculty of Philology
Most impressive cheerleading team award: High School for Gifted Students - HNUE
