The Excellent Mathematics Project Award is a ministerial-level scientific award held every 3 years from 2023 and belongs to the National Key Program for Mathematics Development in the period 2021-2030 to increase the quantity and quality of international publications, improving the level and position of Vietnamese Mathematics in the international arena. The organization of the Award shows the government’s interest in the development of science and technology, especially in the field of Mathematics, to create breakthrough research to serve the industrialization and modernization of the country. This award is also a great spiritual encouragement for those doing mathematical research, especially young researchers.
In this first award ceremony, Hanoi National University of Education was honored to win 1 First Prize and 2 Third Prizes, becoming 1 of 3 educational institutions with the highest number of award-winning works.
The school's award-winning topics:
- The first prize was awarded to the project “Hermite interpolation on the unit sphere and limits of Lagrange projectors” in the IMA Journal of Numerical Analysis of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Van Manh, Faculty of Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology. In this research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Van Manh constructed new Hermite and Lagrange interpolation schemes on the unit sphere in R3 space, gave Newtonian formulas for the interpolation polynomial, and used them to show that the Hermite projection is the limit of Lagrangian projection when interpolated points are degenerate.
- The Third Prize was awarded to the work “Łojasiewicz gradient inequalities for polynomial functions and some applications” in the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Application by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thao, Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Huy Vui, Institute of Mathematics. In this work, the authors studied the existence of the global Łojasiewicz gradient inequality and the Łojasiewicz gradient inequality at infinity, giving some applications in global optimization for the existence of these inequalities. This equality has an exponent less than 1.
- The Third Prize was awarded to the work “Notes on ultraslow nonlocal telegraph evolution equations” in the Journal Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Nhu Thang, Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology. In this work, the author has proven the results of the asymptotic behavior of the variance of the stochastic process associated with the super-slow non-local telegraph equation and also introduced a new way of constructing the local non-derivative kernels so that the stochastic process associated with the corresponding non-local telegraphic equation has arbitrary logarithmic growth order.
This result not only proves the continuous efforts of the staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology but also contributes to affirming the University's position on the science and technology map of Vietnam during more than 70 years of construction and development.
