GIFTING COMPUTERS TO NUA NGAM SECONDARY SCHOOL, DIEN BIEN DISTRICT, DIEN BIEN PROVINCE

In anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu (7/5/1954 - 7/5/2024), and with the introduction by the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province, on April 14, 2024, a delegation from Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) consisting of Professor Nguyen Van Minh - President, Associate Professor Nguyen Duc Son - Vice President, and leaders of several departments within the university, visited and donated 10 computer sets to Nua Ngam Secondary School, Dien Bien District, Dien Bien province.

Attending and witnessing the donation of 10 computer sets were Mr. Nguyen Van Doat - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province, Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan - Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Education Promotion Association of Dien Bien, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Director of the Provincial Center for Continuing Education, along with the heads and deputy heads of specialized departments of the Department of Education and Training.

From Dien Bien District, there were Mr. Dang Quang Huy - Head of the Department of Education and Training, and Mr. Pham Trung Thanh - Principal of Nua Ngam Secondary School, accompanied by all the staff and teachers of the school.

Nua Ngam Secondary School is located in Nua Ngam commune, Dien Bien district. It is an outlying area with complex hilly terrain. The commune consists of 12 hamlets primarily inhabited by ethnic groups such as the Thai, Lao, Mong, and Khơ Mú. In the 2023-2024 academic year, Nua Ngam Secondary School has 485 students divided into 14 classes, with ethnic minority students accounting for 84.1%, including 184 boarding students.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Professor Nguyen Van Minh - the President of HNUE shared: "Dien Bien Province and Hanoi National University of Education have always had a special bond and affection over the years. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory of Dien Bien Phu, our university has a small gift to share with the teachers and students of Nua Ngam Secondary School. Although it may not be much, this gift represents the care, concern, and sharing of the teachers and students of HNUE towards the teachers, students, and the difficult areas of Dien Bien Province. At the same time, it also reflects the social responsibility of our university, with the desire to provide better learning conditions for students in disadvantaged areas."

The President also added, "Currently, Hanoi National University of Education has a fund to support students from disadvantaged areas. On April 16, 2024, the university will provide the first round of support to 16 students, including one student from Tua Chua district, Dien Bien province, studying Early Childhood Education, K70 class. We hope that after graduation, these students will be welcomed to work locally."

Touched by the sharing with the education sector in Dien Bien by HNUE, Principal Pham Trung Thanh of Nua Ngam Secondary School expressed: "The teachers and students of Nua Ngam Secondary School deeply appreciate the sentiment from HNUE towards our school. This is a very favorable condition for our teachers and students to excel in computer science and other activities at our school. We will take good care of and make effective use of this precious gift."

After the computer donation, the delegation also visited the subject classrooms, dining areas, and dormitories of the boarding students at Nua Ngam Secondary School.

During this trip, the delegation also visited and held discussions with Dien Bien Provincial Pedagogical College and the Provincial Center for Continuing Education regarding the training and development of the teaching staff in Dien Bien province in the near future.
