HANOI NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION WORKS WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM LA TROBE UNIVERSITY (AUSTRALIA) AND UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE (NETHERLANDS)

On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, Hanoi National University of Education welcomed and worked with representatives from La Trobe University (Australia) and the University of Twente (Netherlands) on international cooperation opportunities with the Faculty of Preschool Education, the Faculty of Primary Education, and the Faculty of Geography.

1. Working program between Hanoi National University of Education and La Trobe University (Australia)

On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, representatives of Hanoi National University of Education, leaders of the Faculty of Preschool Education and the Faculty of Primary Education, had a discussion with representatives of the Faculty of Education from La Trobe University. The following individuals attended the meeting:

  • From La Trobe University: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melissa Barnes (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education), Dr. Thi Tran - Faculty of Education staff member.
  • From Hanoi National University of Education: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Lam - Dean of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Chung - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Head of the President's Office.

According to the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings in 2023, La Trobe University is among the Top 300 best universities in the world, placing it in the top 1% of universities worldwide. In this meeting, representatives from La Trobe University expressed their desire to promote international cooperation with the Faculty of Preschool Education and the Faculty of Primary Education. The working program was dynamic and led to specific directions for student exchange, lecturer exchange, joint research/publication, and co-organization of international scientific conferences on preschool and primary education.

2. Working program between Hanoi National University of Education and the University of Twente (Netherlands)

On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, representatives of Hanoi National University of Education, the Board of the Faculty of Geography, and lecturers from the Department of Remote Sensing, Cartography, and GIS discussed with representatives of the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente, Netherlands. The following individuals attended the meeting:

  • From the University of Twente (Netherlands): Ms. Laura Windig - Project Manager for GEM Erasmus and Master's programs at the University of Twente (Netherlands), and Ms. Marlies Nijhuis - Scholarship Officer, University of Twente (Netherlands).
  • From Hanoi National University of Education: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Vu Khac - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Geography; Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Head of the President's Office, Dr. Duong Thi Loi - Deputy Head in charge of the Department of Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS, Dr. Nguyen Van Manh - Lecturer in the Department of Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS, Faculty of Geography.

The University of Twente (Netherlands) is a renowned research university in the Netherlands, where the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) is a leading center for research and education in the field of geographic information science and remote sensing. ITC is known for its specialized and diverse training programs, including natural resource management, urban management, climate change, and geospatial technology applications. ITC's strength lies in its combination of cutting-edge research, modern technology, and international cooperation, enabling students and researchers to develop innovative solutions for global issues related to the environment, spatial planning, and sustainable development. The Master's program in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (GEM), taught at four universities in four European countries (including the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, and Estonia), is currently ranked 9th in the world in the field of Remote Sensing Engineering (according to the Shanghai Ranking) with a network of over 25,000 alumni.

The two working programs have opened up new, feasible, and potentially realizable avenues for cooperation, bringing valuable learning and research experiences to both institutions.
