Opening Ceremony for Busan University of Foreign Studies Students in the academic year 2024-2025, K19 Cohort, at HNUE

On September 6, 2024, the Institute for International Education and Training (IIET) of Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) held an opening ceremony to warmly welcome 11 students from Busan University of Foreign Studies who have enrolled in the 2+2 joint training program.

This is the 19th cohort of Busan University of Foreign Studies students to study Vietnamese Language and Culture. The ceremony took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere. Attending the program were Prof. Dr. Le Huy Bac, Director of the Institute for International Education and Training (IIET) and Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies; Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Head of the President's Office; and lecturers teaching in the program from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and the Faculty of Philology.

After the flag salutation, Professor Bac delivered an inspiring opening speech. He warmly welcomed the new students and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and language learning in today's interconnected world. He highlighted the unique opportunity for these students to immerse themselves in the Vietnamese language and culture, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between Korea and Vietnam.

Following the speech, Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh warmly welcomed the students and shared practical information about studying and living at HNUE. She guided navigating the university's resources, accessing support services, and engaging in extracurricular activities, ensuring a smooth transition for the students into their new academic environment.

Following the speeches, a significant part of the ceremony unfolded-each student had the opportunity to introduce themselves, sharing their motivations for learning Vietnamese and their expectations for the program. This personal interaction between the students and faculty was a pivotal moment, fostering a sense of community and making the students feel valued and supported. The academic advisor then provided an overview of the program, introduced the teaching staff, and outlined the semester's learning plan, ensuring the students felt well-prepared for their upcoming studies.

To conclude the ceremony on a festive note, everyone enjoyed a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival celebration. The highlight was the cutting and sharing mooncakes, a symbolic gesture representing unity and completeness. This cultural activity, common to Korea and Vietnam, served as a powerful bridge between the two cultures, making everyone feel connected and included in the community.
