Hanoi National University of Education collaborates with the United Nations in Vietnam (UN Vietnam).

On July 25th, Hanoi National University of Education had a meeting with the United Nations representatives in Vietnam, aiming to maintain and expand connections with UN agencies to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the education sector in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting, from the United Nations in Vietnam, were Ms. Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator and Head of UN Agencies in Vietnam; Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan - Head of UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UN RCO); Ms. Miki Nozawa - UNESCO Head of Education Sector; Ms. Le Anh Lan - UNICEF Education Specialist; Ms. Tran Thi Minh Tien - Assistant Partnership and Development Finance Officer, UN RCO; Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhat - UNICEF Education Officer; and Ms. Thuy Anh - UN Women Program Analyst.

From Hanoi National University of Education, the attendees included: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Hien - Chairman of the University Council of Hanoi National University of Education, Dr. Dinh Minh Hang - Head of the President's Office, Assoc. Prof. Le Minh Nguyet - Dean, Faculty of Psychology and Education; Assoc. Prof. Bui Thi Lam - Dean, Faculty of Early Childhood Education; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Dean, Faculty of the Social Work; Dr. Nguyen Thuy Chung - Vice Dean of Faculty of Primary Education; Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Head of the President's Office.

At the meeting, UN Resident Coordinator and Head of UN Agencies, Ms. Pauline Tamesis, welcomed the delegation from Hanoi National University of Education to the UN headquarters and highly appreciated the proactiveness, dynamism, and positive contributions of the University to UN Vietnam. Representing UNICEF Vietnam, Ms. Le Anh Lan and Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhat shared their collaborations with the Faculty of Special Education and expressed their desire for further connections in areas such as climate change, digital revolution, and inclusive education. Representing UN Women, Ms. Miki Nozawa acknowledged that the selection of Hanoi National University of Education (Faculty of Psychology and Education) as one of three universities in Vietnam to pilot the Safe Campus model has brought valuable practical experience.

Representing Hanoi National University of Education, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Hien gave an overview of the university's history, outstanding international cooperation activities within the framework of MDGs and SDGs, and recommendations for future cooperation programs. The leaders of the departments participating in the program shared the results achieved with UN agencies in Vietnam and expressed their desire for deeper cooperation in the near future.

The program concluded with high consensus and commitment between the Hanoi National University of Education and the United Nations in Vietnam to continue coordinating the implementation of programs, and projects, and propose new collaborations, in line with the mission and functions of both units. As one of the key pedagogical universities in the country, Hanoi National University of Education always strives for policy consulting and training high-quality human resources for the sector and the country. Hanoi National University of Education believes and expects further cooperation with UN agencies in Vietnam to realize the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the education sector in Vietnam.
