On July 30, 2024, Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) hosted a delegation from the Representative Office of the Division of Overseas Koreans Education in Vietnam, the Korean Ministry of Education (under the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam). The delegation included Ms. Kim Mi-hee, Deputy Director of the Office, and Ms. Tran Quynh, Officer.
HNUE representatives included Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Hien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Duc Son, President of HNUE; Assoc. Prof. Duong Minh Lam, Head of Science and Technology Office; Prof. Le Huy Bac, Dean of Vietnamese Studies Faculty and Director of the Institute of International Education and Training; Dr. Tran Huong Quynh, Dean of English Faculty; Assoc. Prof. Duong Tuan Anh, Vice Dean of Faculty of Philology; and Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh, Deputy Head of the President's Office.
During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Hien welcomed the delegation and introduced the university's history, training, and teaching programs, and its position in the national education system. He also highlighted the university's international cooperation with Korean universities and organizations, emphasizing the positive contribution of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea to HNUE's international cooperation activities.
Ms. Kim Mi-hee expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and provided an overview of the Representative Office of the Korean Ministry of Education in Vietnam. She acknowledged the successful cooperation between HNUE and Korean partners and expressed her appreciation for the potential cooperation opportunities in education, training, and science and technology between HNUE and Korean partners in the near future.
Representatives from HNUE's faculties and departments, including Assoc. Prof. Duong Minh Lam, Prof. Le Huy Bac, Dr. Tran Huong Quynh, Assoc. Prof. Duong Tuan Anh, and Dr. Pham Thi Ngoc Quynh, shared details about the university's training achievements and international cooperation activities. They also proposed various forms of exchange, cooperation, and support in several areas, including:
- Science and technology
- Teaching Vietnamese to Koreans and organizing the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Test for foreigners (HNUE is one of the first universities in Vietnam licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training to organize this exam)
- Teaching Korean students at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels
- Sharing practical experiences related to the implementation and evaluation of the 2018 General Education Program
- Promoting cultural and academic exchange activities
The meeting concluded with important conclusions on the development orientation in training and the promotion of international cooperation activities between HNUE and potential partners in Korea through the support and coordination of the Representative Office of the Division of Overseas Koreans Education in Vietnam, the Korean Ministry of Education. The meeting also opened up opportunities for HNUE to connect with the network of Korean universities of education through the introduction of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam.
