The candidates are students in the 12th grade of high school or have graduated from high school (or equivalent), are in good health, and are not under criminal investigation. They have the following desires: to register for admission to HNUE's undergraduate programs; to register for admission to recognized universities and use the results of the competency assessment exam from HNUE for admission consideration; and to obtain the exam results certification valid for university admission in the same year.
The subjects included in the 2024 HNUE's Competency Assessment Exam are Mathematics, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography. The exam consists of multiple-choice and essay questions to evaluate the students' competencies in comprehension, application, and creative application for university admission. The questions cover the current high school curriculum taught per the Ministry of Education and Training guidelines. Candidates choose to register for specific exams and use the results to apply for admission to university programs as required by each university. The content of the exams corresponds to the subjects studied and the exams taken in high school, and the candidates write their answers directly on paper. The exams combine multiple-choice and essay questions with a proportional scoring scheme depending on the exam, assessing the understanding of core knowledge and abilities in reasoning, analysis, evaluation, problem-solving, and creativity. The question bank is supplemented, updated, and aligned with the new methods of the Ministry of Education and Training after 2025.

For the 2024 Competency Assessment Exam, HNUE prepared a rich and qualified workforce to ensure the successful implementation of each stage of the exam organization process, including the exam question compilation team, exam analysis team, exam grading team, exam organization, and support team. Additionally, the university has sufficient infrastructure, equipment, and software to meet the requirements for efficient exam organization, including security, safety, and anti-fraud measures. The exam area is equipped with a complete system of warnings and fire prevention, ensuring safety during the exam. The university provides dormitories to accommodate candidates from distant locations during the exam period.
The exam was conducted in a serious, safe, and effective manner. The exam organization was carried out meticulously and by procedures and regulations. It can be affirmed that the 2024 Hanoi National University of Education's Competency Assessment Exam was successfully and fully organized, ensuring both security and quality under the regulations.
