To launch this exchange program, a team of specialized lecturers from Savonia UAS, Dr. Pirjo Turunen and Dr. Johanna Komulainen, visited and taught at the Faculty of Educational Management (FEM) at HNUE for over 10 days in September 2024.
Despite adjustments to the original plan due to the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, the lecturer exchange activities proceeded actively, effectively, and as scheduled. Collaborative activities included a scientific seminar, a project to develop learning materials using 360-degree videos, teaching regular students, and meetings to discuss and prepare for subsequent activities.
A highlight of this exchange was the joint organization of the scientific seminar "EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT POLICIES: EXPERIENCES FROM FINLAND AND LESSONS FOR VIETNAM" held on September 17, 2024. With the participation of over 50 scientists and lecturers from Savonia UAS, HNUE, and postgraduate students from FEM, the seminar provided a platform to share insights into Finnish education policies and draw lessons for implementing support for education and inclusive education in Vietnam. It garnered significant interest from professionals and students alike.
Classroom teaching activities for students took place over two school days with diverse learning methods and formats. Students provided highly positive feedback on the lectures delivered by the experts. 100% of the students surveyed indicated that the lectures deepened their understanding of Finland's philosophy, system, and policies, as well as the support system for inclusive education for people with disabilities. Students also expressed their desire for continued collaboration between the two universities, facilitating further opportunities for lecturers to work together and for student exchanges between Finland and Vietnam.
Upcoming activities will involve the exchange of lecturers and students from HNUE to Finland. It is hoped that both universities will continue to collaborate and support each other, ensuring the continuation of such meaningful activities, creating opportunities for professional development, and enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries.
