OPENING CEREMONY OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024: WELCOMING THE NEW GENERATION WITH NEW THINKING AND BREAKTHROUGHS

On October 11, 2023, Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) organized the Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2023-2024 at the Stadium, joyfully welcoming nearly 4,000 freshmen of the K73 cohort. The ceremony took place in a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere, coinciding with the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the university, marking a milestone in its construction and development, alongside the glorious history of the national education sector.

The esteemed representatives from various government agencies, educational departments, embassies, the People’s Committee of Cau Giay district, the People’s Council, and the District’s People Committee were honored to attend the ceremony. Representing the university’s leadership were Prof. Nguyen Van Minh, Member of the Party Committee of HNUE and President of HNUE, along with party members, the Executive Board, the leadership of the Trade Union, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Alumni Association, former Presidents, and Party Committee Secretaries from different periods. Also present were all faculty members, lecturers, representatives of parents, postgraduate students, undergraduate students, and high school students.

In addition, various press agencies were presented to report on the event, including Vietnam Television, the National Assembly Television, VTV 24, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vnexpress Newspaper, Vietnamnet Newspaper, Dan Tri Newspaper, Giao duc Thoi dai Newspaper, Giaoduc.net newspaper, Tien Phong newspaper, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Vietnam News Agency, Communist Party Electronic newspaper, as well as other central and local press agencies. In the opening speech, Prof. Nguyen Van Minh, President of HNUE, advised: “I hope that you will maintain your belief. Start thinking in a new way. University education is not just about studying to pass exams or achieving high grades. University is where new knowledge and new values are generated, and you are the creators of that knowledge. When it comes to facing the challenges of the times, take action to spread compassion and understanding. With sincere aspirations, love, and intelligence, recognizing the demands of the era, having faith and self-improvement, you will undoubtedly succeed. Stri for an equitable and honest education system.”

The President also emphasized: “Each teacher, each staff member of the university will have greater responsibility, dedication, love, and through their practical actions, they will provide the students with the best and fulfill their duties for the academic year. The collaboration between teachers and students will create a new resonance for the university.”

In responding to the guidance of the President of HNUE, the lecturer Pham Thi Thanh Thuy from the Faculty of Social Work shared her heartfelt thoughts: “As an educator, I am proud to live, learn, and grow within the rich traditions of the university that have been nurtured by numerous generations of teachers and students over the past 73 years. Our teachers have instilled in us a love for the profession, imparted inspiration and great motivation, and ignited the flame of passion and dedication. Now, we are ready to embark on the journey of sowing seeds, the journey of nurturing individuals. We, the lecturers of Hanoi University of Education, will begin a new journey together with our students. It is a journey to seek enlightenment for the intellect and soul, a journey that opens the doors to knowledge and touches the heart.”

Representing the freshmen of the 73^rd intake, I, Dinh Cao Son from the Faculty of Chemistry, express my joy and pride as a student of Hanoi National University of Education. I would like to share that “Hanoi National University of Education is not only a suitable place for me to expand my knowledge in the field that I am passionate about, but it is also an ideal place for me to develop my pedagogical skills in preparation for my future career. We are committed to making relentless efforts in our studies and training to achieve the highest results, to be a source of pride in the university’s history, and to become outstanding teachers who are competent and dedicated to teaching and research, contributing to the construction of an increasingly prosperous society.”

At the Opening ceremony, the school also acknowledged the efforts of the K73 students intake in their examinations and admissions to HNUE. These efforts included: 01 student who was directly admitted and achieved the International Gold Medal, 05 students who were directly admitted and achieved the first prize in the National Examination, 19 students who were admitted based on their graduation exam scores in 2023, and 03 outstanding students who were admitted through separate examinations conducted by the university.

The university leaders presented awards to the students who achieved outstanding results in the admission process for the 73^rd intake.

Through the ceremony, the university received sincere emotions from generations of teachers and students, colleagues, and new students, all aiming toward the development directions for the new academic year and the future. The students of the 73^rd intake officially set foot on the university campus, and we wish them success in their studies and personal growth at HNUE.
